1964: President’s Report

It has often been said that “Nothing succeeds like success”.  This has certainly been true as far as our League is concerned for 1964 has been a record year of achievements.  A record number of teams participated in the competition bringing with it a record number of registrations and for this, I congratulate the individual Clubs for their efforts in building up their respective teams.

Highlights of the year were:

The successful trip to Melbourne

The Colts (also successful) trip to Western Australia. (Both teams being undefeated)

The crowning of our Queen at the Annual Ball

The Annual Church parade at Holy Trinity

Greek Orthodox winning both the A1 and A1 Reserve Grand Finals

Queenstown Church of Christ Premiers of A2 winning the Stanley Challenge Shield.

In all a wonderful year.

L.R. Whittenbury     President

FOOTNOTE:

Annual matches were played between 2 Greek Youth Association teams (Greek Orthodox Youth Association – GOYA) from Adelaide (the Cassie Football Club – Cassies) from Melbourne.

Goya lost to the Cassies this year but scores are not available.
