1967

After a disappointing 1966 President Emanuel Bambacas and his Committee realized that the Club needed success in 1967.

The Committee searched for and convinced an arch opponent to our Club in previous years, Keith Davis, that he was the man to lead the Greek Orthodox Club to a Premiership in 1967.

Keith led by example and never asked a player to do what he himself couldn’t achieve.  He was a strong-willed Coach who demanded discipline and full commitment from his players. Training attendances improved and this was evident in the games throughout the season.

From this year on Keith became a devoted member of our Football Club.  He formed lifelong friendships with the players he coached and members.  He was always there, not just at our games but the many social functions the Club had over the ensuing years until his passing on 29th October 2015 - R.I.P FRIEND

Thanks to Keith the A Grade finished minor Premiers while the B Grade finished 4th.

Sadly the B Grade lost the First Semi Final against Allenby Gardens. Bad kicking didn’t help.

Final scores were 5-3 (21) to 2-8 (20).

The A Grade won the second Semi Final against Ovingham Methodist 10-10 (70) to 5-3 (33).

Goal kickers were K Davis 3, P Galantamos 2, P Giamalis 1, Tom Frossinakis 1, R Flavel 1, G Christopoulos 1, A Tsakalidis 1.

Ovingham Methodist won the Preliminary Final and met the Greeks again for the Grand Final clash.

The Greek team defeated an improved Ovingham 7-8 (50) to 5-3 (33).

Goal kickers were R Flavel 2, T Frossinakis 2, K Davis 1, J Carrangis 1, G Christopoulos 1.

Tom Frossinakis won his third Best and Fairest Award.

No records of the B Grade Award are available.
