1992 Articles

Season 1992 began with Stan Condous being re-elected as President.  Back-to-back Premiership Coach, Shane Reardon was re-appointed Senior Coach. Michael (Mango) Morgan was made Captain of the A Grade.

After the Premiership win in 1991 there was a mass exodus of senior players to the likes of Tom Hank, Rob Morrell, Peter Young, John Economou and Olof Bode just to name a few.  Coach, Shane had his hands full and by the early part of the season he had moulded a very competitive team and they won a respectable share of matches for the season. Unfortunately, this was not enough to secure a place in the finals and finished in 5th place.

Peter (Spog) Morgan won his 1st Best and Fairest, a very popular choice.

At one stage relegation was possible however it did not happen.  It was the first time the A’s did not participate in the finals round since 1986, which was back in the Weigall Oval days as the Greek Football Club and it was the last year as a solo identity.

Now there was something to build on.
